Knowt Review

What is Knowt?

Knowt positions itself as a generous free alternative to Quizlet, giving students AI-powered study tools without paywalling the core experience.

You can import notes, PDFs, lecture slides, or videos and have Knowt automatically create flashcards, AI summaries, and practice quizzes, then study with spaced repetition and other learning modes.

A built-in AI study assistant named Kai can answer questions about your material and help explain concepts, and the platform syncs across devices so your sets travel with you.

It is aimed at high school and university students who want to convert their own course material into active-recall study aids quickly, and the unusually capable free tier makes it popular with budget-conscious learners.

Teachers can also use Knowt to create classes, assign material, and track student progress, which extends its appeal beyond solo studying.

Pros include genuinely free unlimited flashcard creation and AI generation, a clean modern interface, and direct migration paths for users leaving other flashcard apps, including bulk import of existing sets.

Cons are that the most advanced AI features, such as unlimited AI chat with Kai, unlimited summaries, and auto-graded assessments, are gated behind higher Premium and Ultra tiers, and as with any AI study tool the generated content should be verified before relying on it for exams.

Pricing is freemium: a robust free plan plus paid Premium and Ultra subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Pricing changes often, so check the official site for current plans.

Knowt's core capabilities include AI flashcard generation from notes, PDFs and videos, AI summaries of uploaded material, Practice quizzes and study modes, Kai AI study assistant for Q&A, Spaced repetition review and Cross-device sync.
