Google Antigravity

Google Antigravity is an agentic development platform announced by Google in late 2025 alongside Gemini 3, comprising an AI-powered integrated development environment, a command-line interface, and a software development kit for orchestrating autonomous coding agents.

Rather than acting only as an inline autocomplete, Antigravity is designed around delegating whole tasks to AI agents that can plan, write, run, and test code.

The IDE offers two main surfaces: an Editor View that works like a modern AI code editor with tab completions and inline commands, and a Manager Surface where developers can spawn, orchestrate, and observe multiple agents working asynchronously across workspaces.

The agents have access to the shell to install dependencies, build projects, and run test suites, and a dedicated browser extension lets an agent open and drive a Chrome window to click, type, scroll, and read console logs for verification.

A distinctive concept is Artifacts, where agents produce tangible deliverables such as task lists, implementation plans, screenshots, and browser recordings so developers can verify the agent's reasoning and leave feedback inline without halting execution, and a knowledge base lets agents retain useful context across tasks.

It is aimed at software developers and teams who want to work in an agent-first way, handing off complex, multi-step engineering tasks. Use cases include building features, debugging, writing tests, and automating repetitive development work.

While powered primarily by Gemini models, Antigravity also supports additional models including Anthropic's Claude and an open OpenAI variant, and it runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Pros include deep agent orchestration, verifiable artifacts, multi-model support, and cross-platform availability.

Cons are that, as a newer public-preview product, it is still maturing, and autonomous agents require oversight to avoid unintended actions. Antigravity launched in public preview available at no cost for individuals, with broader plans expected to evolve.
