krea2.org is a browser image-generation workspace that runs several third-party models side by side, including Krea 2 tiers, FLUX.2, GPT Image 2, Nano Banana and Seedream 5.0, with reference uploads, six aspect ratios and live model switching.
Midjourney is an AI image generator known for its distinctive aesthetic quality, currently on model V8.2, with a full web app alongside the original Discord workflow, plus an Editor, moodboards, style profiles, and five-second image-to-video.
Midjourney generates images, and it has spent several years being the one people reach for when the picture has to look good rather than merely match the prompt.
Its defining trait is an aesthetic point of view. Where other models aim for neutral accuracy, Midjourney makes opinionated choices about light, composition, and colour — which is why its output is recognisable and why some people find it hard to steer.
This review covers the current V8.2 model, the web app that replaced Discord as the default way in, the controls that make style repeatable, and the policies that catch people out.

Midjourney's original interface was a Discord bot, which was a genuine barrier — people had to join a chat server and type commands to generate an image.
That is no longer how most people use it. The web app at midjourney.com/app gives full access to V8.2 image generation, and it is where most new users start. Discord still works, and image generation is at parity between them.
Video features arrived on the web app first, which tells you where development attention now sits. Any guide that describes Midjourney as Discord-only is out of date.
V8.2 arrived in July 2026 as the current default, bringing updated aesthetics, improved image quality, and better personalization.
Version changes in Midjourney matter more than in most tools, because each one shifts the house style. Prompts tuned on an older version often produce noticeably different results, and re-tuning is part of the upgrade.
If you have a body of work built on earlier versions, test before switching wholesale — the newer model is better, but "better" can still mean "no longer matching what you shipped last quarter".
Midjourney's most valuable features are not about generating one image but about making the next fifty look like it.
Moodboards let you feed in reference imagery so generations inherit a visual direction rather than defaulting to the model's own preferences. Style profiles save that direction for reuse.
For brand or project work this is the difference between a tool and a toy. Consistency across a set is the actual requirement, and prompting alone does not deliver it.
The browser-based Editor handles refinement — adjusting regions, extending the frame, and reworking parts of an image rather than regenerating the whole thing.
Regenerating from scratch when one element is wrong is the most common waste of credits, and the Editor is the answer to it.
Personalization tunes output toward your own taste based on your ratings and history, so the model's defaults drift toward what you actually pick. It compounds quietly over time.
Midjourney generates five-second video from an image. It is deliberately narrow — animate a still you already like rather than generate footage from a description.
That constraint suits how Midjourney is used. The image is the thing people care about; motion is an extension of it, not a separate discipline.
For anything longer or more directed, a dedicated video platform is the right tool. This is a complement to the image workflow, not a competitor to video generators.
There is no free trial. Midjourney ended it in 2023 and has not brought it back, so evaluating the tool means paying first. A limited trial exists on the separate niji·journey mobile app, which is a different product with an anime focus.
Generations are public by default. Your images appear in the community gallery unless you are on a plan with Stealth mode, which is restricted to the higher tiers.
That surprises people doing client or commercial work, and it is not a setting you can simply switch on at any tier. If confidentiality matters, it dictates which plan you need before anything else does.
Midjourney meters generation through modes rather than a single credit pool, and the distinction confuses new subscribers more than any other part of the product.
Fast mode consumes your allocated GPU time and returns quickly. Relax mode queues behind other users and takes longer but does not draw down that allocation — and from the Standard plan upward it is unlimited, which is what makes heavy exploration affordable. Turbo trades more allocation for the quickest results.
The sensible pattern is to explore in Relax and switch to Fast only when you are refining something specific. People who burn through their allocation in a week are almost always generating everything in Fast by default.
Precise control remains its weakness. The model's aesthetic opinions assert themselves, and getting an exact composition or a specific detail often takes more attempts than it would elsewhere.
Text rendering inside images is weaker than the current leaders, so anything requiring accurate words on a sign or a label is a poor fit.
Prompt syntax is idiosyncratic and largely learned from community knowledge rather than documentation, which makes the early experience opaque.
And because there is no free trial, the learning curve is one you pay to climb.
Build a moodboard before generating anything at volume. Trying to establish a consistent look through prompt wording alone is the most common way people waste a first month.
Edit rather than regenerate. When an image is close, the Editor costs far less than another full generation and gets you there more reliably.
Check which plan you need for Stealth mode before subscribing if any of your work is confidential — discovering the default afterwards is an unpleasant surprise.
Midjourney still produces the most consistently beautiful images of any mainstream generator, and V8.2 plus moodboards and style profiles has made that beauty far more repeatable than it used to be.
Choose it when aesthetic quality is the priority and you want a house style you can hold across a body of work. Choose something else when you need precise compositional control, accurate in-image text, or the ability to try before you pay.
